Detectives have confirmed the investigation into the disappearance of estate agent Suzy Lamplugh, who was last seen in west London almost 40 years ago, is ongoing.

It follows the death of the man suspected of killing her, John Cannan, in prison on Wednesday.

The Metropolitan Police said officers remain committed to securing justice for her family.

Ms Lamplugh, who was last seen in Fulham, was reported missing on in July 1986 when she was 25.

Ms Lamplugh had left her office to meet a prospective client known only as "Mr Kipper" to view a flat.

She was never seen again, and "Mr Kipper" was never identified.

Ms Lamplugh's car, a white Ford Fiesta, was later found abandoned in Fulham.

She was officially declared dead, presumed murdered, in 1994. Her body has never been found.

The Met’s cold case homicide team continues to pursue leads, the force said.
