An 18-year-old man has died in a crash between a car and a lorry, which left both vehicles on fire.

West Mercia Police said the crash happened on the A4103 in Yarkhill, Herefordshire, at about 01:00 GMT on Monday.

The force added the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the lorry was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Officers said the crash involved a blue Vauxhall Corsa and an HGV, and appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said paramedics found both vehicles ablaze when they arrived on the scene.

It said the lorry driver suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The A4103 was closed between the A417 and Weston Beggard Lane on Monday morning while the crash was investigated, according to the traffic monitoring service Inrix.
