Bin collection strikes over refuse workers' pay have been called off after "successful" negotiations.

The GMB union members working as refuse collectors in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead have agreed an increased pay offer with employer, Serco.

According to the company they have agreed a two-year deal, 5% in year one and 4% in year two.

A Serco spokesperson said: "We're pleased to confirm that agreement has been reached on our latest pay offer and planned strike action has been cancelled."

GMB organiser David McMullen said: "We are pleased SERCO have seen sense and Windsor and Maidenhead members did not have to begin a protracted dispute as seen across other councils recently.

"Members standing strong and being prepared to fight for an improved offer has resulted in a significant improvement in their pay without a single day's industrial action.

"This is great news for GMB members and the public in Windsor and Maidenhead."
