A celebration is being planned to mark 150 years of a Nottinghamshire market.

The first Hucknall Market was held on 23 April 1875 when Queen Victoria was on the throne.

A "super-sized market" will be held to mark the occasion on 26 April, alongside entertainment for children and other activities.

Ashfield District Council is also appealing for people to come forward with their own memories of the market over the years.

The council said it wanted "information and stories" about the market spanning the last 150 years.

Once submitted, the authority plans to publish them on information boards around the area.

The celebration event will operate alongside the regular High Street, Saturday market.
