Motorists face disruption after two major roads were closed following collisions.

In Hertfordshire, the A1(M) is closed between junction one for South Mimms and junction three, for Hatfield, following a "serious" collision, according to updates from National Highways.

In a separate incident, the A421 in Bedfordshire is closed in both directions between the A6 and junction 13 of the M1 following a collision and flooding following heavy rainfall.

Diversions are in place and emergency services are at the scene of both closures, which were announced at about 09:00 BST.

Bedfordshire Police said, external that the A421 closure was "likely to take substantial time to clear the incident and remove excess water" and asked drivers to find alternative routes.
