Call to curb fireworks displays to three days

Fireworks should have increased restrictions on their sale and use to protect the welfare of pets and wildlife in Guernsey, animal owners say.
Currently, fireworks can only be sold to people over the age of 20, and between 28 October and the close of business on 5 November.
Horse owner Jean-Paul Kennedy said he wanted fireworks to only be sold on 5 November with a window of three days for displays.
But Chris Knapp, director of sponsorship at Guernsey Raiders rugby club, said organised fireworks displays were important for fundraising and bringing the community together.
Mr Kennedy said: "They should only be sold on 5 November. You should have to register to get them and I think there should just be three days where you can let the fireworks off.
"Then people with pets know what days it is happening, so they can try and prepare the best they can for the welfare of the animals."
Mr Gnapp said: "It's something that we as a club all really look forward to.
"It's a big revenue generator for us as a charity to enable our teams to carry on playing rugby throughout the course of the year, and all the benefits that that brings to people of all ages."
