Public feedback gathered from a mobile police station has led to increased uniformed patrols and arrests in Torquay, Devon and Cornwall Police has said.
The force has been running the community initiative in various locations in the town since November.
It said feedback had led to an increased police presence in the Castle Circus area of the town, as well as arrests and convictions relating to drug dealing.
Insp Rob Harvey said he hoped the results demonstrated how the force was listening to and acting on what people were reporting.
The force said community information was vital to how they planned and carried out patrols.
"It provides us with strong evidence so that we know we're targeting the right areas at the right times to pursue criminals and have the biggest impact on safety," Insp Harvey said.
"Whether it's to report crime, to tell us where and why you don't feel safe or to ask for some crime prevention advice, we're here to listen."
Insp Harvey said the police were aware people wanted to see more officers on the streets.
"Not only that, but we understand how important it is to be able to have a conversation about concerns with someone who will listen, and more importantly act on them," he said.
'The eyes and ears'
The mobile police station is due to be deployed in several locations in April and May.
"I'd like to encourage anyone in Torquay, resident or visitor, to come and speak to us," said Insp Harvey.
"Unless you report something, please don't assume that we know about it already.
"As we can't be everywhere at all times – we rely upon communities to be the eyes and ears on the streets when we can't be there."
