An e-scooter rider has died in hospital following a crash on a cycle path in Bristol, police have said.

The crash happened along the A370 Coronation Road at about 15:20 BST on Friday, Avon and Somerset Police said.

A 56-year-old man, from Southville, was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being helped by passers-by and staff from a nearby GP surgery, but the force confirmed he later died in hospital.

Officers said his next of kin was being supported by a specially-trained family liaison officer.

Police confirmed the man was riding a privately owned e-scooter.

Anyone with information about the crash was asked to contact police.
