Super polling stations proposed for 2025 election

People voting in the 2025 general election in Guernsey could be able to vote at any polling station in the island if a proposal is approved.
The States Assembly and Constitution Committee has requested for stations to become "super polling stations", allowing islanders to vote at the polling station of their choice, regardless of the parish they live in.
The committee said two super polling stations saw the highest footfall of the 2020 election, with smaller parish stations seeing "relatively few voters".
It requested eight super polling stations to be placed across the island, with three opening on the proposed pre-polling days and all to open on election day.
'Plenty of choice'
Committee President Deputy Carl Meerveld said a consultation had been held with the parishes to ensure all views were heard.
"The committee believes it is important that the community can vote in any polling station, as this reflects our island-wide voting system and ensures that nobody can turn up at the wrong venue," he said.
"Having considered footfall during the 2020 election, and taking feedback from the parishes into account, the committee is confident that its proposals for 2025 will ensure that the electorate has plenty of choice over where to cast their votes."
The super polling stations would be located at Dave Ferguson Hall in Beau Sejour, Les Maingys Activity Centre, Styx Community Centre, Castel Douzaine Room, St Martin's Parish Hall, St Sampson's Community Hall, St Peter Port Constables’ Office and St Andrew's Douzaine Room.
