Plumes of dark smoke from a tyre fire caused long delays on a motorway during rush hour.

The blaze resulted in queues in both directions of the M5 at junction 12 in Gloucestershire, with traffic being held briefly at 17:10 BST by emergency services.

The nearby A38 Bristol Road was also blocked in both directions, according to traffic monitoring website Inrix.

Firefighters were called at 16:32 BST to tackle the blaze, which is believed to have started at Hiltmead Lane.
