Students dressed as zombies 'invade' city
- Published
A city centre is being invaded by a hoard of students dressed as zombies ahead of Halloween.
About 30 are roaming around Oxford as part of a project to boost the skills of the city college's performing arts, make-up and media students.
The event was set to begin at Oxford Castle and Prison, which has partnered with the college to launch its upcoming Ghost Fest season, which will run between 25 and 31 October.
Emily Denmark, operations duty manager at Oxford Castle and Prison, said: “Shoppers will be amazed and terrified in equal measure."
The collaboration has been driven by Ms Denmark and her colleague Kesia Middlemore.
Both studied at the college and were keen to give opportunities for the next generation of creatives.
The tour of student zombies was set to start at 14:00 BST and features a historical zombie walkthrough of Oxford city centre.
They are visiting a host of iconic locations around the city including Radcliffe Camera and Westgate shopping centre.
Ms Denmark said: "The zombies are being played by performing arts students from Oxford City College who have teamed up with us to promote our upcoming Ghost Fest series of 'spook-tacular' Halloween events."
She added: “As someone who studied at the college, organising this was all about giving performance opportunities to the next generation of creatives so hopefully being part of this gruesome spectacle inspires their next step, whatever it may be.”
