A man has died in a hit-and-run in Stoke-on-Trent, prompting a witness appeal from police.

Staffordshire Police said officers were called to Newcastle Lane in Penkhull at about 21:00 BST on Friday, following reports.

The force said the man was found with serious injuries and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Officers believe the car involved was black, but said it had not been able to confirm the car's make, model, or a description of the driver.

The force has urged anyone with information to get in touch.
