A group of protesters have gathered in Plymouth to demonstrate against the council's stance on flags placed around the city.

The protest was organised by a group called Flag Force Plymouth after the city council removed St George flags which it had deemed unsafe or unlawful.

By 18:00 BST on Sunday there were about 150 flag protesters who police kept separate from a second group of about 70 people who were showing support for the rights of refugees and asylum seekers.

Devon and Cornwall Police used three parked vans to contain the Piazza.

At 19:00 police said there had been no arrests.

There had been similar protests outside Plymouth City Council offices on Monday.
