A camera club and an auction company have joined forces for an exhibition which will see some of the group's work put on display in the firm's cafe.

Lichfield Camera Club has teamed up with Richard Winterton Auctioneers to install eight images taken by club members of the town and surrounding area.

The photos are also being made available for members of the public to purchase.

"As auctioneers of Lichfield for more than 160 years, it's a perfect fit for us to showcase some of the club's photographs of local scenes," said auction boss Richard Winterton.

Club members had been "delighting photography fans with striking pictures ranging from landscapes and architecture to wildlife and portraits," he said.

"Having a selection of our members' images on display in The Auction Cafe is a fantastic opportunity to showcase local photography and raise awareness of the club," said club chair Joe Anderson.

"We really appreciate their support and look forward to building on this partnership."

The club is affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, and holds meetings every Wednesday at Lichfield Methodist Centre.

Club member Richard Moore said they were always looking for gallery space, to complement their major annual exhibition at The Hub at St Mary's Lichfield.

"The important thing about photography is about sharing what you do – you do it for your own personal satisfaction but you don't want to keep it to yourself, you want to share it," he said.

Despite the possibility of sharing photos online, physical exhibitions were still the best way to view photography, he added.

"There is still something special about a print, well-mounted and in the right environment."

Club members were asked to submit photographs in monochrome for the cafe's walls, and there have been two sales since they went on display earlier this week.

It was expected the selection of images on display would be refreshed every two to three months.
