Driver dies after car leaves road and hits tree

North Yorkshire Police says the crash happened on the rural route on Friday night

A driver has died after a car left the road and crashed into a tree in North Yorkshire.
Police said the crash happened on Pot Bank near Beckwithshaw, Harrogate, at about 22:00 BST on Friday and involved a blue Citroen C2.
The driver, who was the only occupant in the car at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene, North Yorkshire Police said, with their gender and age not yet confirmed by the force.
The route was closed for several hours afterwards, with officers asking for any witnesses or those with information about the incident to come forward.
