Police officers who were returning to their base, saved the day for a mother and son stranded on a busy road after their car broke down.

PC Prisecaru and PC Irving were on their way to Willenhall Police Station when they came across a broken-down vehicle in a live lane on Stonebridge Highway, in Coventry.

Inside the vehicle, officers found a woman and her four-year-old son on their way to pick up his football kit. The officers moved the car to safety, arranged recovery support and offered the family a lift to their destination.

PC Prisecaru said those moments reminded them what the job was all about.

"The young boy was thrilled to ride in a police car and even asked for a photo," the officer said.

"His excitement was contagious.

"Moments like these remind us that policing is not just about duty, but about care, compassion, and community."
