A Royal Air Force Typhoon took to Manx skies as part of the celebrations marking the return of the Classic TT.

The aerial display took at 19:30 BST over Douglas Bay on Thursday ahead of the final day of racing for the event on Friday.

The demonstration featured the force's fighter jet, the Eurofighter Typhoon FGR4, and will be undertaken by members of RAF Coningsby.

This year marks the return of the Classic TT brand to run parallel to the Manx Grand Prix.

First introduced in 2013, the brand was scrapped following the coronavirus pandemic but has been reintroduced in a bid to boost visitor numbers during the August racing event.

Organisers previously said the inclusion of the RAF Typhoon was expected to be a "major highlight" for those attending this year's event, showcasing the "speed, power and agility" of the aircraft.

The display would also add "an extra dimension to the event for fans, families, and visitors of all ages," they said.

The RAF Typhoon display took to Danish skies on Sunday as part of the Roskilde Air Show and will next perform at the Southport Airshow on Saturday.

The aircraft was piloted by Squadron Leader Nathan Shawyer of 29 Squadron at RAF Coningsby, and supported by specialist engineers and logisticians for safety.
