People have been warned of travel disruption due to incoming severe gales brought by the first named storm of the season.

Ronaldsway Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning from 16:00 BST on Friday until 18:00 on Saturday, with gusts of up to 65mph (105km/h) expected as Storm Amy hits the island on Friday.

The island's ferry firm has brought the morning's sailings forward and warned of further disruption until Sunday.

Forecaster have also advised people to be aware of possible on-island disruption due to fallen trees, minor structural damage to properties and flooding on roads due to heavy rain.

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has pulled its afternoon sailings to and from Liverpool on Friday forward by eight hours to 07:00 and 11:30 BST, marking the second day of disruption for passengers on the route.

The Manxman's crossing to Heysham has also been brought forward by 30 minutes to 07:30, with the Douglas-bound return running 45 minutes earlier than originally schedueld.

Civil Defence Isle of Man has urged people to tie down or store away garden furniture and remove leaves from drains to help reduce flooding.

Sand bags have also been made available at its headquarters on Tromode Road for those in areas prone to flooding.
