A cyclist died when he was struck by a car in a residential road in the West Midlands.

Emergency crews were called to the scene, in Wagon Lane, Solihull, at about 07:00 GMT, West Midlands Police said.

The victim, a man in his 50s, was confirmed dead at the scene, with the road currently closed while investigations are carried out.

The driver of the car involved remained at the scene to help police with their inquiries, while other drivers are urged to avoid the area. Witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage is asked to contact police.
