Watch: Moment avalanche is triggered by explosives in New Zealand

Footage taken from a helicopter shows large swathes of snow falling down the side of a mountain during a controlled avalanche conducted by authorities in Milford Sound in New Zealand.

Specialist teams from New Zealand's Transport Agency used explosives to trigger an avalanche to clear the risk for visitors driving on the road to the popular tourist destination in the South Island.
