A large amount of refuse from the back of a lorry caught fire on a motorway.
Firefighters said they called to the M1 between junctions 15 and 15a near Northampton at about 07:10 GMT.
Two lanes of the northbound carriageway were shut.
The lorry remained at the scene but was not involved in the blaze, Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said.
A spokesperson said hose reel jets were used to extinguish the flames and that crews were still there dampening down the remaining hotspots.
