Initial plans for up to 115 homes on the edge of Markfield are set to be decided.

Charnwood Borough Council's planning committee has been recommended by officers to approve an outline application from Davidsons Developments Ltd for a housing development on land south of Markfield Lane in Leicestershire at a meeting on Thursday.

The applicant had previously proposed building 150 homes on the site, however this was revised during the planning process, documents said.

A report prepared for councillors said the proposed development would provide "much needed" affordable housing in a "sustainable" location.

Planning documents said 40% of the proposed homes - 46 units - would be classed as affordable.

Plans added the proposals would provide a range of housing types from one-bedroom flats to four-bedroom houses.

According to council documents, the application would be subject to a section 106 legal agreement in which the developer would pay £877,628 towards education in the area amongst other contributions.
