All lanes of a dual carriageway will be closed for three nights as part of a series of roadworks taking place in September.

The A27 will be closed in Titchfield from 21:00 to 06:00 BST on 8-10 September to allow Hampshire Homes to install drainage for a new housing development in the area.

The developer also announced plans to shut the road in one direction from 11 September until 1 October.

The 95 new homes have been built on land east of Southampton Road, which will also face some lane closures and traffic management from Wednesday to Friday, while street lights are moved.

Hampshire Homes said it would attempt to limit disruption and it anticipated that all major works associated with the site would be completed by the end of October.

It added: "Once we complete these works there are still some finishing touches to do on site, which will enable delivery of not just affordable, but high-quality homes.

"Considering this, we are hoping to complete the development by Christmas."
