Arson charge over industrial estate fire dropped

The fire on Bridgend Industrial Estate in January 2024 caused a warehouse to collapse within minutes

A man who was charged with arson with intent to endanger life following a large fire at an industrial estate has had his case discontinued.
Ieuan Jones, 26, from Bryntirion, Bridgend county, had been charged following the blaze which broke out on the Kingsway at Bridgend Industrial Estate in January 2024.
The CPS confirmed that the case against Mr Jones has been discontinued following further discussion with a fire expert.
At the time of the fire all staff safely evacuated the warehouse, owned by Owens Group, with no injuries reported.
The blaze caused extensive damage to the building which measured 245m by 110m (800ft by 360ft), and the roof partially collapsed.
