A woman is in a "serious condition" after a multi-car crash on Thursday, which closed the A47 in Norfolk for more than six hours.

The dual carriageway was shut in both directions between the Honingham roundabout and the North Tuddenham junction.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said they were called at 14:50 BST and a woman was taken to hospital for further care.

The road reopened in both directions on Thursday evening and Norfolk Police have appealed for more information.

Police officers were called at 14:43 BST when a blue Ford Fiesta travelling towards Dereham collided with a silver VW Golf and then a Silver VW Transporter van.

A spokesperson for the force said: "The driver of the Fiesta received serious injuries and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital where she remains in a serious condition."

Fire crews from Dereham and Carrow made the scene safe and released people from their vehicles using hydraulic equipment, according to incident logs, external.

Three ambulances, an ambulance officer vehicle and the East Anglian Air Ambulance were also in attendance.
