Arrest after woman dies in supermarket car park

A man has been arrested after the death of a woman who was hit by a car at a supermarket car park.

Derbyshire Police said the woman, in her 80s, was walking across the Sainsbury's car park, off Wreakes Lane in Dronfield, Derbyshire, at about 13:45 BST on Tuesday when she was struck by a Range Rover.

She died at the scene, the force added.

A man, in his 50s, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving, and has been released on bail while inquiries continue.
