Former Rangers player Kyle Hutton has appeared in court accused of killing a woman while drink-driving.

The 34-year-old allegedly hit pedestrian Victoria Cairns with his Mitsubishi pick-up truck in Rutherglen, Lanarkshire, on November 2, 2024.

Ms Cairns, 40, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where she died four days later.

Hutton, who played for the Ibrox club between 2010 and 2015, made no plea at a private hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

Hutton is charged with causing Ms Cairns' death by dangerous driving, while under the influence of alcohol and driving at excessive speed.

He is also accused of refusing to provide breath samples to police.

Hutton currently plays for junior team Gartcairn, based in Airdrie.

Since leaving Rangers the midfielder has also been with clubs including St Mirren, Queen of the South and Dumbarton.

He was granted bail by Sheriff Allan Mckay.
