York railway station shuts after serious assault

York railway station was closed after a person was seriously assaulted on Sunday evening.
Officers were called to the scene at about 20:45 GMT where a person had suffered serious head injuries, according to British Transport Police.
The person was taken to hospital by paramedics. Some train services were disrupted as a result of the incident.
Det Supt Sam Blackburn said enquiries were ongoing and passengers would "see an increased police presence in the area".
