Decision to be made on plans for up to 415 homes

The homes, if approved, would be built off the A47 Normandy Way

A decision is set to be made on plans to build up to 415 homes on the edge of Hinckley.
Planning officers at Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council have recommended that the planning committee approves an outline application on Tuesday for the proposed homes on land north of the A47 Normandy Way.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) said the committee had deferred its decision on the proposed development on 12 August after concerns were raised about a roundabout included in the proposals.
However, a report by planning officers said that it would be "unfeasible" to move the roundabout to a new location.
This comes after a government inspector granted applicant Richborough Estates planning permission on appeal in January 2024 to build up to 475 homes on an adjacent site.
The developer had previously said the two developments would be separated by a large park.
There will also be other public green spaces, including play areas for children, planning documents said.
According to the LDRS, 83 of the homes would be classed as affordable housing, and financial contributions of more than £5m are being requested from the developer for local facilities and services if the scheme is approved.
Speaking to the committee at the last meeting, councillor Michael Mullaney said he had been contacted by "many local residents who are concerned" about the plans, while councillor Richard Allen said the roundabout should be moved to a "more logical position".
But an agent speaking on behalf of the developer said its location had been "carefully assessed".
