Two men who admitted supplying cocaine in North Yorkshire coastal towns have been jailed.
Myles Alan Coe, 20, and Reece Connor Gibson, 23, had pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine in the Scarborough and Filey areas, while Coe also pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine.
At York Crown Court on Thursday, Coe was given a total of five years detention in a Young Offenders Institute and Gibson was sent to prison for two years and four months.
After the sentencing hearing, Det Con Sam Rivers, from North Yorkshire Police, said: "Drug supply is an absolute scourge on our communities. It causes nothing but misery, it preys on the vulnerable while the suppliers live the high life."
"A large percentage of crime can also be traced back to drugs in some degree, which is why North Yorkshire Police will continue to target drug dealers and bring them to justice," he added.
Cash seized
Detectives launched an investigation into Coe and Gibson in August 2024 after a third defendant, Rebecca Rhodes, 41, was arrested in connection with another matter and officers examined her mobile phone.
A forensic examination of her device showed thousands of conversations about drug dealing with Gibson, of Norman Crescent, Filey, and Coe, of Grange Avenue, Filey.
Images of drugs being weighed, put in deal bags and cut with other substances were also discovered on her phone, while over 300 message streams from people wanting to buy drugs were also found, police said.
Gibson was working with Rhodes to supply drugs and the pair would buy from each other and pass on customers to each other if either ran out out of product, according to North Yorkshire Police.
Officers said that Coe was one of Rhodes' and Gibson's main suppliers and they would regularly discuss buying from him.
Once purchased from Coe, Rhodes and Gibson would split the product and mix it with a bulking agent to maximise the sales for extra profit.
During the investigation, over 100 exhibits were produced as evidence in the case, more than £1,000 in cash was seized and a number of other suspects were also arrested and were being dealt with separately, police said.
Rhodes, of Scarborough Road, Filey, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and possessing heroin and cocaine, and is due to be sentenced at a later date.
