A teenager has been arrested after two people were stabbed on a busy Manchester road in "broad daylight", police have said.

The male victims, aged 17 and 18, suffered serious injuries on Stockport Road, in Longsight, at about 12:30 BST on Friday.

They were taken to hospital with serious injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police have since arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of assault, who remains in custody.

Det Sgt Stuart Macquiban, from Greater Manchester Police, said: "This was a shocking attack which took place in broad daylight, in a busy area, subjecting our victims to serious injuries, but also placing members of the public at risk of harm."
