An illegal rave thought to have involved more than 100 people has been broken up in Cornwall, police have said.

Officers were called to the A395 in the Camelford area "shortly before midnight following a report of a large number of cars turning off the carriageway towards woodland", said Devon and Cornwall Police.

A road closure is in place on the A395.

One participant said it was a "good night" and they did their best to clear up after themselves.

He added: "We had a very lovely time and we were keeping out of the way of everyone else."

Police said "a lot of people" had left the area and officers remained at the scene.

The force said illegal raves were "unacceptable", and those attending were "placing themselves and the public at risk".

"Do not approach the area, those who do, risk arrest and prosecution," a spokesperson said.

There have been no arrests, they added.
