Robbers with a machete slashed a man while trying to steal his e-bike, police have said.

Nottinghamshire Police said they were called to Farleys Lane near the A611 Hucknall bypass at 00:50 BST.

Officers said the victim, who was in his 30s, suffered slash wounds to his leg and hands after being pushed off his bike during a confrontation with two men in an alley.

His injuries were not life-threatening or life-altering, the force said.

'Scary ordeal'

The victim's bike and phone were taken following a struggle.

The bike has since been recovered and police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Det Sgt Nathan Bingham, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This must’ve been an incredibly scary ordeal for the victim, who was injured as a result and had a number of his belongings taken."
