Two teenagers have been arrested after a 13-year-old boy was stabbed.

The victim was injured during a knife attack near Cabot Circus at about 19:40 BST on Thursday. He remains in hospital in a stable condition, which is not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

A13-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and violent disorder, while a 14-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, affray and possession of a knife in a public place.

Insp Tom Gent said: "We know this incident will have caused upset and concern and we want to reassure our communities that we’re carrying out a full and thorough investigation, with significant progress already being made."

'Additional patrols'

“We’re working closely with our partner agencies to ensure all necessary safeguarding is in place and additional patrols were carried out over the weekend," Insp Gent added.

Both teenagers have now been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.

The location of the stabbing is close to a McDonald's restaurant, based on the The Horsefair, where a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in February.

In May, a man was left in a critical condition after another stabbing in the same area.

Police have urged witnesses to come forward.
