Boy, 5, hit by vehicle and left seriously injured

A five-year-old boy has been struck by a vehicle and left badly injured, police have said.

The child was taken to hospital after he was hit in Southern Street, Salford, at about 18:45 BST on Thursday.

Greater Manchester Police said the boy's injuries were "believed to be life changing".

No arrests have been made and officers appealed for anyone with information or relevant video footage to contact them.

The force said the vehicle involved remained at the scene to assist police.
