About 50,000 attended this year’s Manchester Day festivities, celebrating a summer of sport.

The city centre turned into a large playground with events involving rugby, tennis and taekwondo.

More than 300 performers and 18 community groups also staged music and dance shows across the free events on Saturday.

The annual festival, which started in 2010, was organised by Manchester City Council with outdoor arts specialists Walk the Plank and sporting organisations.
