Homes evacuated in false alarm bomb scare
- Published
Homes in a Warwickshire village were evacuated earlier after a suspected unexploded bomb was found.
Following an investigation by army bomb disposal experts it was found not to be an explosive device.
Builders working on a property in A45 London Road, near Stretton-on-Dunsmore, uncovered what was thought to be a World War Two mortar shell just before 13:17 BST on Tuesday.
Police set up a 100m cordon at the scene with nearby homes and properties being evacuated as a precaution.
Warwickshire Police thanked the public for their patience as officers worked to remove the cordon and reopen the road.
