Work to overhaul pumping station completed
- Published
Work on the La Piette Pumping Station as part of an "ongoing investment" into the island's water infrastructure, has been completed.
It has seen the 33-year-old station’s pipes replaced, a new chamber constructed, improved maintenance access and new cover hatches installed.
A control panel replacing the existing one has also moved to the landward side of the road.
Guernsey Water said the investment formed part of multi-million pound plans for 2024 to ensure critical infrastructure was maintained and fit for purpose for decades to come.
Capital Delivery Manager Carl Falla said: "This station is a small but vital part of the island’s critical infrastructure and this investment means we can ensure wastewater is safely returned to sea for decades.
"We worked closely with other utilities and Traffic and Highways to minimise disruption and align with their works, and I want to thank everyone for their patience while the work was carried out."
