Guernsey Water said work on the La Piette Pumping Station was part of ongoing investments

A 33-year-old pumping station is set to be refurbished for £300,000, Guernsey Water has said.

The company said work on the La Piette Pumping Station was part of an "ongoing investment" into the island's water infrastructure.

Work will take eight weeks, beginning on Monday, with occasional traffic lights to be installed to allow workers access to the pipes under the road.

It said it was doing "everything we can to minimise the disruption".

Capital delivery manager Carl Falla said the work was part of its "multimillion-pound infrastructure investment" plan for 2024.

"This station is a small yet vital piece of the island's critical infrastructure."

Guernsey Water said work on the Forest Road storage tanks and new pipe work at Moulin Huet would also begin "over the coming months".
