A teenage girl arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a newborn baby has been released from police custody.

Officers were called to a property on Norwich Road in Ipswich at 12:35 GMT on Saturday and the body of a baby was found outside.

Paramedics also attended but the baby was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two men in their 30s, who were also arrested on suspicion of murder, were earlier released on bail, Suffolk Constabulary added.

Police say a small cordon remains at the property

After questioning, a police spokesperson said: "[The female] has now been released under investigation pending further inquiries."

The men were released on bail until 6 February.

"Detectives are treating this as an isolated incident but understand the concern this will have caused in the local area."

On Sunday, the force applied for a warrant of further detention at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court which gave them an additional 21 hours to question the male suspects, who, along with the female, were arrested on Saturday afternoon.
