A second man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a double shooting in Leicester has been bailed.

Leicestershire Police said two men were shot as they walked along Evington Road - close to the junction with Chepstow Road - at about 23:20 GMT on Wednesday.

The men remain in hospital in a stable condition, the force added.

A 24-year-old man, from Leicester, was arrested on Monday and has since been released on bail.

It follows the arrest of a man, from Leicester, in Birmingham on suspicion of attempted murder. The 29-year-old suspect was later bailed.

Police believe a red MG SUV-type car was involved in the shooting, before the vehicle left the scene.

The force is continuing to appeal for information, including to those who may have seen the vehicle in the area at the time.
