An inquest has opened into the death of a British man who was stabbed outside a nightclub in Spain.
Nikki Robinson, from Hucknall in Nottinghamshire, was attacked at the Oxygen nightclub in Calella, near Barcelona, on 21 June and died at the scene.
Mr Robinson, who was 30, worked as a carpenter for Evolution Sport and had been in Spain working for Red Bull ahead of the Formula 1 weekend.
At Nottingham Coroner's Court, Mr Robinson's provisional cause of death was given as a stab wound to the chest, following a post-mortem examination.
Opening the inquest, assistant coroner for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Rebecca Covington said Mr Robinson was identified by his mother.
Offering condolences to Mr Robinson's friends, family and loved ones at the opening, Ms Covington said: "I really am very sorry."
He was described by his family as a "hard-working lad and family man".
An inquest hearing in the UK will take place on a date to be fixed, following further inquiries, Ms Covington added.
Mossos d'Esquadra, the police force for the Catalonia region, which was investigating the killing, previously arrested a man.
A second British man was also injured and taken to hospital, the force said.
