Arrest after cyclists report being hit by mopeds

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested after a collision involving mopeds left two cyclists injured, one of them seriously.

Essex Police was called to Mount Road, Theydon Garnon, near Epping, at about 09:45 GMT on Sunday.

It said it believed the incident, involving two moped riders, was a "deliberate act".

The boy was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent, GBH without intent, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving without insurance and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

The teenager was released on bail until 2 May.

Another person had already been arrested, but police have not revealed what offence they were held on suspicion of.

Officers appealed for dashcam footage and anyone with information to come forward.

The force said it was working to establish whether the crash was linked to two similar incidents, one in Coopersale Common and one in Epping High Street.
