An animal rescue centre in Kent is searching for a new home after being told another organisation will be taking over its land.

Safe Haven Animal Rescue were served an eviction notice from its landowners stating that it must leave the site in Shelleys Lane, Knockholt, by the end of the summer.

The not-for-profit organisation cares for about twenty horses, pigs, sheep, chickens and cats.

Founder Elise Bradley moved to the site two years ago and said she would like to remain nearby.

"Ideally we're looking for around 10 acres or more that is still local to Dartford, Sevenoaks, Bromley or Chislehurst," she said.

The rescue centre, which is run by volunteers, have set up a crowdfunding page with a target of £2,400 to pay for the move, which will include transport, storage and rent costs.

"We going to have to dismantle our current fences and enclosures, plus crate train the feral cats to be able to move them to a new home," Ms Bradley added.

"The horses, sheep and pigs will need motorised transport too, which can be expensive."

Safe Haven Animal Rescue was founded in 2017 by Ms Bradley and her mother, Angela, with the aim of rescuing one creature per month. But since moving premises to Knockholt, it has supported thousands of animals.

Ms Bradley added: "Our current landowners have been really good to us, charging a very low rent and letting us help all of these animals live happy lives.

"But now it is time for us to move on and find somewhere else to continue our work. If anybody has a spare piece of land, please get in touch."
