Two men have been arrested after a man allegedly threatened police officers with a pool cue.

Gloucestershire Police said officers were called to a report of an argument between a man and a woman on Fountain Square in Gloucester at 21.35 BST on Thursday night.

When officers arrived, the man threatened officers with a weapon before going to The Dukeries, a block of flats, arming himself with a pool cue and a knife and making further threats of violence.

Two men, both in their 50s and from Gloucester, were arrested and remain in custody.

One was arrested on suspicion of affray and assaulting an emergency worker, while the second was arrested in suspicion of obstructing police.

The force said officers checked the welfare of the woman, who is not believed to have been injured.
