Man, 19, arrested over death of motorcyclist

A 19-year-old man from Eastbourne was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving

A teenager has been arrested by police investigating the death of a motorcyclist in a four-vehicle crash in East Sussex.

A 29-year-old woman from Battle died at the scene of the crash near Shooters Bottom car park on Beachy Head Road, Eastbourne, Sussex Police said.

The crash involved a red Honda motorbike, a silver Mazda, a black Audi and a red Mazda at about 16:25 BST on bank holiday Monday.

A 19-year-old man from Eastbourne was held on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

He was later released on conditional bail pending further inquiries, a police spokesperson said.

The victim’s next of kin have been informed. No other injuries were reported.
