Illicit tobacco and "oversized" vapes have been found hidden in a chair during a shop inspection in North Lincolnshire.

The investigation at the One Shop Mini Market in Barton-upon-Humber came after multiple complaints from residents and other businesses.

Humberside Police and Trading Standards found 47 e-cigarettes, 34 packets of cigarettes and 13 packets of hand-rolling tobacco.

Officials said the vapes seized on Tuesday were up to 18ml in size, when the UK limit has been set at 2ml, and inquiries are ongoing.

The penalties for the sale or possession of illicit vapes can be an unlimited fine and up to two years imprisonment.

Councillor Carl Sherwood, from North Lincolnshire Council said: "We are determined to come down hard on unscrupulous traders.

"Illicit vapes can cause serious health issues and the fact they are being sold to youngsters is even more worrying.

"This sort of activity will not be tolerated within our communities and our children must be protected."
