Singer Jake Shears has been confirmed as a headliner for Pride Classical in Liverpool.
The lead vocalist of the Scissor Sisters will take to the city's Pier Head as a headline act for the Pride Classical stage on 26 July.
Shears, best known for hits like I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’ and Take Your Mama, will perform with an open-air 32-piece orchestra.
The event kickstarts Pride in Liverpool celebrations in collaboration between Liverpool City Region’s LGBT+ charity LCR Pride Foundation and orchestral production company, Carrot Productions.
Jake Shears, who last performed in Liverpool as part of the Eurovision village, said he was "delighted" to be returning for what will be "a memorable night of love, joy and unity".
"Pride Classical is the perfect way to start your Pride in Liverpool weekend and I can’t wait to see everyone," he added.
Shears will be joined by actor and musician Ashford Campbell, alongside RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Season 4 Winner Danny Beard and West End sensation Alison Jiear.
The theme of this year's festival is "Joy: Celebrating life, spirit, and resilience".
Andi Herring, CEO of LCR Pride Foundation, said: “Jake Shears and Ashford Campbell are the icing on the cake for what is already a spectacular line-up.
"We’re pulling out all the stops to make this a show that people talk about for years to come and all importantly ensuring we can keep Pride in Liverpool free and accessible.”
All proceeds from ticket sales for Pride Classical will go towards funding Pride in Liverpool on the following day, 27 July.
