A cycle race is returning to Beverley after an absence of six years.

The British Cycling National Circuit Series will take place in the town centre on 19 July.

Councillor Nick Coultish, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism, described it as a “real coup”.

Last run in 2017, previous winners of the Beverley Grand Prix include three-time Olympic gold medallist Ed Clancy OBE.

Alan Menzies, interim chief executive at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: "We have a real tradition of bringing cycling events to the East Riding, and it's very pleasing that we are able to do so again in 2024.”

The event will start at 16:00 BST with a community ride giving families a chance to experience a national level cycling event in the safety of closed roads around the town before competitive races take place.

Anthony Gill, head of sport at British Cycling, added: “At British Cycling, we have fond memories of the Beverley Grand Prix and cannot wait to return.”
