Pavements to be fixed after tarmac controversy
- Published
Tarmac patches on city centre pavements in Lincoln are to be removed as part of a £250,000 repair project.
The patches on the cobbled streets near Lincoln Cathedral have caused concern, with former mayor Rosanne Kirk describing them as "a real eyesore" and a "kick in the teeth".
Lincolnshire County Council said they were a temporary measure for safety purposes while the correct materials became available.
The authority has now begun work on repairing and replacing damaged or missing stonework on the pedestrianised High Street.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the first phase of the work along High Street is expected to be complete by December, with the full project expected to last 12 months.
